This is a very early Noritake tea set. It has the MM-19 green backstamp marking circa 1918. This marking was used on china, which was decorated at the main factory in Nagoya. The set includes a teapot with lid, creamer and sugar with lid. There are six teacups, saucers and plates. The set is in very good to excellent condition. There are no chips or rough edges. There is only minor loss of color and minor usage wear. The teapot measures 4 ¼ inches in height without the lid and 8 ½ inches in width from spout to handle. The creamer measures 3 ¼ inches in height. The sugar has two handles and measures 5 ¾ inches in width from handle to handle. The saucers measure 5 ½ inches in width, the plates measure 7 ½ inches in width and the cups have one of the earliest shape with the width of 3 5/8 inches with ¾ of an inch to the end of the handle and 1 7/8 inches in height. The saucers have no markings. Other than the saucers, each piece is marked with the green backstamp. The set is decorated with iridescent white bottom and iridescent blue top with black trim between the blue and white. The set is absolutely beautiful and a wonderful asset to your tea table as well as for display.
