Name: Alice Roosevelt 1990 National Convention in Washington

Maker: Kathy Redmond for UFDC

Size: 9.5”

Medium: bisque

Date: 1990

Description: Alice Roosevelt as a child, later Alice Longworth ( 1884 - 1980 ) was the only child of President Theodore Roosevelt and his wife Alice Hathaway Lee. She grew up to be the belle of Washington society during her father's administration. A striking beauty, her outspokenness and antics won the hearts of the American people who nicknamed her "Princess Alice".

She has a bisque porcelain shoulder head, a cloth torso and bisque-porcelain lower arms and legs. Like all Redmond dolls, she also has a gorgeously hand-painted face and molded blonde hair. She is costumed in a Victorian-style lace dress with blue sash, a half-slip and matching bloomers. She also wears molded boots and a molded blue ribbon in her pretty sausage-curled molded hair.

The molding on her front shoulder plate didn't photograph well. It is very intricate with a blue bow and her name: ALICE found the name; ALICE incised.

Marks: body: On the back shoulder plate is the artist's signature, as well as a cat symbol, 1990, and; C UFDC//WASHINGTON.

ALICE embossed on her bodice

Condition: Mint.
