HOT DIGGITY DOG BAR PATRON
Dritz Traum Co. New York c1933
This is a delightful tin lithograph toy tray or bar coaster. It measures 4” round, decorated with bright colors in a 5 color motif.
The tray is decorated with the image of a dog looks like a bulldog or boxer, dressed in tuxedo with his top hat on the ground in front of him. Celebrating happy hour or maybe ringing in the New Year with a bottle of whisky in one hand, he is seen holding on to a lamp post with the other hand. The tray is one of a series of lithography trays that tell the story of the patrons of the Hot Diggity Dog Bar. The series was made at the end of Prohibition (December 5, 1933) and celebrated the return of drinking and partying as a great American pasttime.
The plate was designed by Grace Lopez, an esteemed illustrator of animals, who worked for the Dritz Traum Company in the 1930's.
The little tray is in great condition with no major scrapes, scratches, rust or dents. The back is in its original black paint with just a couple tiny flakes off the black paint.
A great addition to any tin litho collection or a New Year's gift for any drinking buddy! We have also listed a companion plate so double the pleasure of giving!
