HOT DIGGITY DOG BAR PATRON
Dritz Traum Co. New York c1933
This is a delightful Depression era American made tin lithograph toy tray or bar coaster. It measures 4” round, decorated with bright colors in a 5 color motif.
The tray is decorated with the image of a terrier dog dressed in tuxedo and top hat – a real dandy dog – getting ready to enter a tavern for happy hour. The tray is one of a series of of lithograph trays that tell the story of the Hot Diggity Dog Bar. The series was made at the end of Prohibition (December 5, 1933) and celebrated the return of drinking and partying as a great American past time. The plate was designed by Grace Lopez, an esteemed illustrator of animals, who worked for the Dritz Traum Company in the 1930's.
The little tray is in great condition with no rust or dents. Insignificant utensil wear consistent with age. The back is in its original black paint.
A great addition to any tin litho toy collection or barware collection.
