Syracuse China compartment, divided or grill plate in the Roxbury pattern, which features transfer print decoration of red and pink sunflowers and a thin red line around the rim. The scalloped raised edge on the rim was specific to the Econo Rim line created by Syracuse China specifically for use on railroad diner cars, This is vitrified china which is heavy and made for commercial use. This 9 1/2" plate dates to 1942, and is in excellent gently used condition. They were used by the Kansas City Southern Railroad between 1936-45. Back marked: Syracuse China Econo Rim Trade Mark Patented. Children, or adult fussy eaters love these plates because they are able to separate their food. Great for barbeques and picnics too.
