The Ephesian Artemis - for the Ephesians, this goddess was a melding of the Phrygian Kebele and the Greek Artemis...she embodied the powers of fertility and the harvest in a way that was not seen in the western empire. Often, statues of her were laden with offerings ranging from fruit and grain to purses of gold. The cult of the Ephesian Artemis was incredibly strong in the east, and her temple was considered one of the wonders of the ancient world.

This necklace set reminds me of the bounty offered up to the goddess to ensure a good harvest. The ovals of Chinese turquoise are a rich greenish blue, shot through with dark earthen-hued veins, and the freshwater pearls are shining and organic, the perfect complement to the veining in the turquoise. These blister pearls are permanently dyed their beautiful wheaten colour. Dyads of bright 22 karat gold over sterling silver vermeil granulated discs sit between the elements, and the necklace finishes with an large granulated vermeil toggle clasp. Complimentary (and complementary!) earrings of perfect pearls with triads of discs accompany the necklace.

The necklace measures 20" in length, and the earrings drop 1" from 14K gold ear wires. This set ships in a gift box.
