Sunflower - in Greek mythology, the sunflower sprouted on the spot where a Greek maiden, Clytie, stood for nine days and nights wasting away for love of the sun god, Apollo. Even now, the sunflower follows the sun, its brilliant head tracing an arc across the sky with the rise and fall of Helios. This delicate necklace set features three sunflowers carved from opalite glass. Though it is often referred to as a gemstone, opalite is a Chinese art glass - it looks something like opal in its iridescence and changeable nature, but is not. The beauty trick of opalite is that against pale colors, it throws a golden light; against, black, its sheen turns blue. Gorgeous. The pendant and earrings in this set feature opalite sunflowers crowned with small lustrous freshwater pearls and 22 karat gold over sterling silver vermeil accents.

The pendant, which drops just over 1", hangs from a delicate chain of 14K gold-fill. The earrings, likewise 1" long, hang from solid 14K gold ear wires. The set ships in a gift box.
