I am traveling the world to seek gems and dream inspired new designs! Be back July 27....
Pergamum - a major city in western Asia Minor, it lies within walking distance of the Aegean Sea. Cosmopolitan and rich in traditions dating back centuries, it was the administrative capitol for the Roman presence in Asia Minor. This necklace evokes the confluence of western Roman and eastern Phrygian designs. The central strand comprises small (10mm) freshwater coin pearls whose iridescence shifts been elements of rose and peach. Knotted on silk and finished with a sterling silver floral toggle clasp, it is, by itself, elegant. Asia Minor makes itself known through the enhancer which I created to sit between the central pearls: a large 13mm freshwater coin pearl of the same hue sits above beautifully faceted garnets (a wheel, small rounds) and an intricately detailed sterling silver round. Swaying beneath it is a drop comprising a larger faceted round garnet and a gorgeous Japanese freshwater teardrop pearl of the same color as the other pearls. These elements are tied together with accents of granulated sterling silver and a central station of scrolled sterling silver. Wear the enhancer and plunge into the Eastern Empire....moreover, the enhancer may be worn on your own favourite chain or knotted necklace.
The pearl strand measures 17" and the enhancer measures 3.75".... this gorgeous set ships in a gift box.
