Good antique French mother of pearl coin purse from "bagnoles", and so marked on the front. The mother of pearl is very thick & in good condition. The inner lining is in in superb condition. This purse cannot have been used often. The lining is too perfect, one small stain inside the inner compartment reserved for the coin for church. The colors reflected are exceptional; similar to abalone. No doubt due to both the thickness and underlying 'movement' in the formation of this wonderful nacre. This item could conceivably be a late Grand Tour souvenir. It is 2 1/4" long and 2+" wide. All hinges and clasp in excellent working condition. An unusual little French coin purse for your collection!
