Elegant sterling silver flatware service from Leontine Compere, widow of Ernest Compere, date of insculpation, Paris 1888. The banded handles are decorated with scrolling acanthus, wonderfully chased bell flowers and foliate sprays. This set includes 24 ivory handles knives with magnificent sterling silver ferrules, all with original blades. This set comes in the original multi-layered box. Included are the following: 12 dinner forks 12 dinner spoons 12 dinner knives 12 entremet forks 8 entremet spoons 12 entremet knives 1 grand ladle

The total weight is 3 kg. 650 for the silver pieces, 4 kg. 260 with the knives. The box weighs over 1 kg.

Condition: good to very good. Apart from minor signs of use, including very little oxidation to the original knife blades, the following flaws obtain. 1. 4 of the forks are a different pattern, made by Henri Soufflot, 1884. The patterns are quite close, but the initials are different as well. 2. 4 entremet spoons are missing. 3. there are some dimples in 1 or 2 of the spoon bowls. 4. some of the fork tines are imperfect, although not really noticeable, important to be thorough here.

Please see photos for measurements and marks. These are all marked with the guarantee for 950/1000 parts silver. In this case the Mercury hallmark used for pieces made to export. The Soufflot forks are marked with the Minerve 1st titre.
