Antique French Sevres Vase Hand Painted Gilt Enamel Champleve

This is a charming Sevres vase. The porcelain center is hand painted. The front cartouche depicts a painting of Eros, the god of love. The cartouche is comprised of a Celeste blue bordered with thick impasto gilts edges and rocailles. The back cartouche, less elaborate, of similar color and shape. The white ground is also decorated with a gilt lattice design boasting gilt dots at corners and centers. The porcelain section is housed between enamel champleve circular foot and neck, both constructed of solid heavy brass. The floral design carries forward the blue and gilt color theme accents in darker blue, red, yellow, red, green and white.
