This is a great, decorative antique, whether you wish to frame it place it on a stand for display. This original Spanish matador epaulet is lavishly decorated with intricate embroidery, hundreds of sequins and stud. I presume the decorative elements are gilt; but I have not tested the thread for gold. The aged patina is wonderful; although if one wanted to shine it up, I am confident that it would positively glitter and still have a nice patina. It is padded and the underside has the original cotton batting. Condition: Some minor fraying at the edges and discoloration of the batting. Dimensions: 7 1/2" wide, 7" long and 1" thick at the pleats.
