This is a selection of 12 vintage boxes and envelopes from THINGS of science 231 W. Center St., Marion, Ohio 43302. They were “Created and distributed without profit by Science Service, Inc. 1719 N Street, N.W. Washington D.C. 20036”. According to my Internet search these different Units or Kits were made from 1940 to the 1980s. Each has a booklet and items to make. One from 1-70 is SIMPLE MACHINES with wood parts and string. The next 2-70 is HERBS with 5 sealed packs of seeds. 3-70 is ELECTRICITY with wires, foil and small compass. The others have 0171 on them. The envelopes include COLOR VISION with color charts, CHEMICAL INDICATORS with test strips, CURVES with charts and colored string, POLARIZED LIGHT with cardboard pieces and lenses. The boxes include SYMMETRY with Styrofoam Balls, cards and pack of Zinnia seeds, FOSSILS with 21 Experiments and fossils. PLASTICS has 32 Experiments with plastic pieces. HOLIDAY ORNAMENTS has Styrofoam balls, clay, mica, aluminum foil, colored paper and wire. The last is SEXTANT with mirrors etc. They each have many experiments. They would be good for a teacher or home schooling. They are all open. They appear complete but I am not sure. One has rust from the booklet staples. They are used with some sealed packets inside.
