This vintage test Multi Meter has a tag marked “SIGNAL CORPS VOLTOHMMETER 1-166 CTO 23772-PHILA-44-52’. It appears to be World War 2 WW2 or Korean War Era based on the 44 and 52. On an Internet search a collector’s site states it is 1944. It is in a OD Olive Drab green steel metal case that measures approx. 7 ¼ “ high by 5 ¾ “ and 6 ¼ “. It has 4 round legs on 2 sides. The serial number is 6173. It also has a cotton canvas snap on carrying strap. Inside the glass meter it is marked “MADE IN U.S.A. BY THE TRIPLETT ELEC. INST. CO. BLUFFTON OHIO.” It is for DC Direct Current and A.C. Alternating Current. It has a “ZERO ADJ.” and “OUTPUT” DIAL. It was tested on a car battery and appears to work. It was not tested on A.C. as no one here is an electrician. It was not taken apart but something is loose inside. Inside the cover is an area filled with test leads and alligator clips. Several of the wires are cracked from age. It is used with paint wear, rust spots and stains. It is in good condition for collecting, possible use or display. There are 9 pictures for viewing. Buyer pays shipping costs for a 7 pound package sent from NY zip code 14873.
