One of the old "divided back era" postal greeting cards (from 1907-1915, the "golden age of postcards"), the front with a fold-out booklet cover containing another printed leaf bearing a message and poem, held together with a pale green linen bow knot. Small blue flowers and gold scrollwork are brightly printed over raised embossing, accenting two veneer overlays of very reflective and iridescent mother of pearl or abalone shell foil (not genuine shell!). The front message reads: "Birthday Wishes" and "Greetings With all Good Wishes"; the inside has "That all your dreams/and hopes prove true/Such is my heart's wish/for you", and "A Birthday Greeting", "Thine own heart's wish/what'er it be/Is what I wish today/for thee", and the "From" is signed in pencil, "Vernie".
The address side is printed "Post BB Card" and "B.B. London Series No. B.527. Printed in Germany". 5 7/16" x 3 7/16", very fine condition, upper left corner with a slight crease, the penciled signature inside, and an almost invisible erased penciled address on the back. It's exceptionally hard to find these old pearlescent cards, and this one's a beauty!
