6 Place Kutani Tea Set, Plates Cups Teapot Sugar Creamer

A rich looking 6-place setting tea set of 21 pieces, all elegantly embellished with hand painted plum blossoms on caramel luster porcelain. Condition is immaculate and near mint! In the photos, a mark directly follows the piece being referenced. At least one of the hand signed marks seems to indicate this is Kutani; the full-circle mark with a triangle is post-1941, and the "rising sun" mark is late 1940's -- so either the use of the earlier mark was continued on into the late '40's or the factory didn't worry about mixing old stock with new as long as patterns matched. The set includes:

6 -- 7 3/8" diameter serving plates, which would be perfect for use at a luncheon or dessert.

6 -- 5 1/2" d. teacup saucers (which although matching have a different mark than the other pieces).

6 -- 3 5/8" d. teacups, the blossoms on one side only. Very thin and translucent when held to a light, and with pearl luster interiors.

1 -- 5 1/8" lidded teapot, flowers on one side only.

1 -- 4" d. lidded sugar bowl, one side with blooms.

1 -- 3 3/8" creamer, painted on one side.
