John was born 1871 and died 1951. He was one of the five Philadelpia realists and part of the "Ash Can School". Sloan studied at the National Academy of Design with Robert Henri, William Glackens, George Luks, and Everett Shinn. The Etching is a very strong impression and was inscribed 100 proof. It has the title lower center "Nude At A Dressing Table", and it has been written in pencil by the artist. The condition is pristine. Most Proof editions never issued all etchings in the edition. The pictures show the great detail and strenght of the impression. Many of John's etching sell for $4,000 to $8,000. Pictures taken with digital camera for true detail and colors. The paper has minor aging, but the lighting makes the color look uneven. It is not, but the closest to the light shows as a lighter color.
