SALE Richmond, VA. Dovetailed Wash Stand W/ Drawer 1840's

WOW, This is a excellent example of southern furniture making of the early 1800's. The washstand looks to be made of maple. The finish is probably not original but has been there for a long time and has developed to a rich nutty brown color and looks fantastic. The backsplash is dovetailed at the joints and the most unusual part of the piece is that the sides were dovetailed into the bottom, and of course the drawer front is also dovetailed. The back splash is rounded at the top with 2 finials on the sides. You can also see the slightest graining of the maple that gives it the look of tiger maple. The Sheraton style turned legs gives it a little more formal look. And with the side being scalloped just sets the whole piece off. Lets don't forget that the bottom has a drawer with what could be the original glass knob. There is a cut out for 2 glasses or cups and washbowl and pitcher.
