Here is a very nice oak washstand. It is in very good condition. The lower cabinet has a drawer and two doors for storage, The top has a mirror and a towel bar. It still has the original label stamped on the back showing that it was made in North Wilkesboro,NC. This is one of three pieces form the same estate all three were made by the same manufacturer. Here is another fine piece. I believe this piece is English in origin. The walnut table is well made and features 8 Minton tiles that were set into the top. Under the tiles you can see that the tiles were set into a type of mortar. The Minton mark is imprinted into the mortar. I believe that the tiles are original to the table, and that the table was made around the same period of the tiles. The tiles are in excellent condition with no breaks or cracks on any of them. WOW, This is a excellent example of southern furniture making of the early 1800's. The washstand looks to be made of maple. The finish is probably not original but has been there for a long time and has developed to a rich nutty brown color and looks fantastic. The backsplash is dovetailed at the joints and the most unusual part of the piece is that the sides were dovetailed into the bottom, and of course the drawer front is also dovetailed. This is a great federal mahogany ladies desk. It is made in a two part construction with highly figured mahogany veneers. It has two paneled upper doors with locks that open to a fitted interior with four tiger maple drawers. The lower case has a fold-over writing surface, with three long drawers with locks. This is a fantastic oak hall mirror. It is made of oak and is in great condition. It features a thick heavy beveled mirror with the original metal hooks for hanging coats or hats.
