This is a truly spectacular brooch. The exceptionally well carved coral bird is just tremendous and this is a rare piece with great visual appeal and design. The bird is set in a 14 karat gold coral like branch design and accented by 3 approx. 2 mm genuine emeralds. This is a collector's piece not doubt and absolutely the best example of fine coral jewelry I have run across. I took lots of pictures so you can truly appreciate the carvings. The piece is a very nice size measuring 2 and 1/2 inches by 1 and 1/2 inches across the widest points of the pin. This artistic piece was acquired from a New Jersey shore gentleman that had acquired his late Aunt's estate. She traveled from the 1940s to the 1970s throughout the Orient and other areas acquiring beautiful and rare pieces some much older and antique. She was a collector as well as a designer and she would sometimes (on top of acquiring jewelry) just purchase rare stones , design an original piece and taking it to upscale New York store to create her designs. The condition of this piece is excellent. Any variance in the coral is either part of the natural configuration of the original piece of coral or part of the carving of the coral. Please ignore and shadows and reflections specifically on the gold.
