Can’t you just see your grandmother, or perhaps your great-grandmother, trying out this new-fangled Lady Dover iron, the latest thing in the 1930s. Its patent for “sadiron shell” (No. 2039222) dates the iron to 1936. It is 8-1/2” long, 4-1/4” wide and 6” tall to the top of the plug attachment. It is marked Lady Dover on the top back. It has a wood handle. Though it is still black, there is wear to the paint.
