In the intricate Georgian pattern, two birds are perched together in a basket, hence its nickname, “Love Birds”. Made by Federal Glass 1931-1935, the pattern gained popularity in 1977 when the Peach State Depression Glass Club donated a set of Georgian to the Smithsonian Institution, in the name of President Jimmy Carter. This is the round covered butter dish in green depression glass. The dish is 7-1/2” by 6-3/4”. The lid has a diameter of 5-1/8”. Together, they stand 4” tall. This is a lovely set in very good condition. It has a couple of tiny fleabites on the dish, and a tiny fleabite on the rim of the lid. These are hard to spot. I found them by feel, and the use of a magnifying loupe. As with all authentic green depression glass, this glows under an ultraviolet black light.
