This is an early 20th century postally unused postcard featuring the home of the late John Alexander Dowie in Zion City, Ill. The home was known as Shiloh House. John Alexander Dowie was a faith healer who founded the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church in 1896. At the turn of the century, he founded Zion City, Illinois and made it the center of his entire church and ministry with the city populated by his many followers and the city's businesses and industries centered around his Church and its ministries. The city government was controlled by the church as well. Dowie died in 1907.
