This nifty little period paper folio comes from an unseemly source, namely the White Baking Co., makers of White's Bread and White's Donuts. The 31 page booklet features various themes for parties with games and refreshments that feature donuts. There are recipes for using donuts at every meal!! Since this booklet was printed during World War ll, there are also recipes that take into consideration rationing. There is a recipe for Wartime Christmas Pudding that has no eggs, no sugar and no shortening, but is based with fine dry donut crumbs, milk, molasses, nutmeats, raisins and lots of spices! There is a section devoted to the etiquette of dunking donuts. The forward is written by Elizabeth King, who was also the Fun Editor of Parent's Magazine since 1935. Party themes in the book include Circus and Pirate parties for children, Movie Star Party for teens and an adult County Fair party which could be used for service men, charity bazaars and other large fund raising gatherings. The booklet measures 5 1/2 by 8 inches and has a paper cover with stapled spine. The spine, cover and all of the pages are intact and clean with age browning along the edges. The booklet is fragile due to its construction, paper quality and age.
