German Half Doll Pin Cushion

This is a wonderful old pin cushion made with a marked German half doll. The skirt is made of home findings. There is a muslin base that is very tightly stuffed. There is an overskirt of many rows of old scrap ribbon edged with lace. The ribbon is now an age browned beige. The ribbon is also wrapped and tied around the waist of the doll. On the waist wrapped ribbon you can see that it is marked "The Triplefit Shoe Store----We fit the Eye, We fit the Foot, We fit the Purse." This same ribbon is also used for the layers of the skirt with the printed areas turned inside. There are a couple of straight pins still in the skirt. The doll is very pretty with a yellow bodice with a blue center bow. She has a blue ribbon in her hair. The face is beautifully painted with greatly detailed and delicate painting and features. The hair is a curly powdered black. The back of the doll is marked Germany and with a number that is difficult to read, but is 5_59. The second number is obscured by a string cord that attaches the doll to the base of the pin cushion. It is impossible to photograph the markings because of the wrapped ribbon and the large skirt which interfere with exposing them for photographing. The entire pin cushion with doll stands about 8 inches tall.
