Button Band or Wyandotte Cake Basket with Pewter Bail Handle

This lovely cake basket is part of the Button Band pattern made by Ripley & Co. c1886 and by US Glass Co Factory F. Pittsburgh PA after 1891. This pattern also has been known by the names Wyandotte and Umbilicated Hobnail. The glass is clear and bright. There are chips at the handle bail as the only flaws. The feet and "teeth" on the base are all free of damage. The handle moves smoothly. This pattern is not very easy to find and this piece is one of the larger and more unusual to locate. This is a wonderful example of Early American Pattern Glass at its finest.
