Elegant Pink Etched Glass Tumble Up Bedside Guest Set with Tray 1930's

Glass : Elegant Depression : Tumble Up Guest Set

 

These sets are called by many names -- tumble up, guest set, bedside water set, night set -- placed next to the bed for a sip during the night. This transparent pink etched water bottle with tumbler and tray were manufactured during the 1930's by one of the elegant glassmaking companies of the time. It is pictured with a hand painted design in Whitmyer's "Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years" on page 237. This water bottle is 8-1/4" tall with wheel cut floral decorations and the matching tumbler is 3" tall with the same etching. The bottle has curved in sides for easy gripping. I've set them on an elegant handled tray with a 1/4" drop down ledge and molded starburst felt on the bottom.

There are no chips, cracks, fleabites on any of the pieces. The bottle and tumbler are a clear pink glass with no cloudiness or residue. Both pieces have some minor use marks. The tray has table rub marks on the underside in spots but no surface scratches. A delicate water set, mouth blown with finished pontils.

This is a lovely set to place in a bedroom to pamper visiting family or friends -- very elegant! There's even room on the tray for a few wrapped chocolates!
