Vintage 1950's Retro Kromex Cake Carrier Glass/Aluminum

This two piece cake set was manufactured by Kromex during the 1940's and 50's. It's marked "Kromex Pat. Pend."

It has an aluminum cover with black trim and a glass plate for the base. The plate is original to the set.

The cake plate is in pristine condition --with no chips or cracks and no surface scratches -- hard to find in such beautiful condition. It has an all over star burst design. Three evenly spaced raised feet are molded into the bottom edge. There is a shallow groove in the top of the plate for the lid to rest. The lid has a few shallow dents and some light surface scratches. No corrosion. The black trim has raised "CAKE" below the knob.

It measures 12-1/2" in diameter and 5-1/4" high. Nice, clean piece! Beautiful addition to your collection!
