This beautiful copper colored boxer has the distinctive black tipped ears, black nose and expressive eyes of the breed. She has a black area on her rump and short little tail. Her finish is smooth without a heavy gloss. Mother and puppy boxer have metal chains attached at the neck and they are hanging down. Mother in her sitting position stands tall and her baby stands tall. It was designed by Erich Stauffer according to the base of the dog which also has the number 8271. After doing some research I have found that only a couple things are known for sure about this designer. That the figures were made in the 1940’s and 50’s and that some of the pieces have gold labels (mine has none) on them that read Original Armart creation Japan. The rest is sketchy and cannot be confirmed. Even on well researched Ruby Lane sites, different information has been gathered. Some say he worked at Hummel and some Goebel. Most agree that some of the confusion centers around difficulty of these pieces being designed when importing from some countries were not allowed into the U.S. because of war. Some deny either claim so I leave it as urban legend and will tell you I will hold my opinion. Regardless these pieces have no cracks, chips or crazing that I see. This grouping is so realistic that you believe you are looking at the real dogs and a fun collectible because of its quality and mysterious origin.
