Welcome to my "Little Shop of Treasures"!
I have been sole proprietor of Carey-McDuff Contemporary Art since 1996. For me and my husband, art is our lifestyle. Our work and gallery have been featured in countless articles highlighting the arts in this region. As though you walked into my gallery, I hope to make your visit exciting and memorable.

I have studied art and design for years and have worked in stained glass, pastel, oil, acrylic and pottery prior to taking up jewelry.

I use top quality gemstones and semi-precious gems, various beads from around the world, sterling silver from Bali, Turkey, Israel and India, Thai Karen silver, 14k gold filled and 22k gold vermeil. All lampwork beads are hand torched by American lampwork artisans or on occasion, are Venetian lampwork beads.

All ceramic pendants are carefully handcrafted by me and include high fire, low fire, salt fire or raku. I have developed a glaze and firing technique that produces pieces that are more akin to an artifact from antiquity than a contemporary ceramic piece. My husband is a popular sculptor and has graciously provided me with some classy, and some whimsical, bronze pendants. He has also shown an extraordinary amount of patience in showing me how to also work in bronze. All of the bronze pendants are by me and/or my husband.

All my jewelry is guaranteed to meet your expectations in design originality and workmanship. All of my pieces are unique and one of a kind. On occasion, I will create
another ONE that may be similar, but never the same. I should be able to lengthen a necklace by adding a chain extension. I may or may not be able to shorten a piece without affecting the integrity of the design. If I can, I will be happy to, but please contact me prior to purchasing.

I have exhibited and sold my work in various venues for 20 years, most recently the Amarillo Museum of Art. I also participated in an invitational, traveling museum exhibition –“Playas…Gems of the Plains” which traveled to 15 museums in the five state region of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. This exhibition received the American Association of Museum’s “Excellence in Exhibition” award in 2005. In addition, I host one to two shows, including a full blown opening reception, featuring my and my husband’s work along with one to two visiting artists, each year at our gallery.

I have had two art-related articles published. “Carey-McDuff Contemporary Art on the Subject of Plagiarism”. The Llano Destacado Monocle. 1997 Summer Edition and “The Story Behind the Sculpture, Ozymandias”. Route 66 Federation News. Winter 1999.
