Noritake Porcelain Cooking Pot Electric Unusual

Presenting...this most unusual Noritake cooking pot with a center electrical unit. It doesn't look to have ever been used nor does it appear that you would put water or cooking oil around the center unit. The cord is AC not DC and there's a small chrome piece that hooks on the side of the cooking unit to put something in or on. Measures 9 1/2" high and 10" in diameter and never had any sort of lid or cover that I can tell.It's been suggested that this might be a tea pot warmer. It is in excellent condition and the color is wonderful., Thanks for Looking! Maureen
