It is bezel set in a solid 14K gold setting with the pretty subject wearing a real 14k gold necklace attached to a genuine faceted 1.5 point diamond pendant (a cameo with real jewelry is referred to as "en habille").

She has lovely facial features with a fancy hairstyle with flowers in her hair and on her shoulder. It is carved from carnelian shell. The gold setting features a thick bezel with gold twist surround. It is stamped "Italy 14KT" with a makers' mark of a twice encircled "B". The 1960's cameo is in mint perfect condition and ready to wear, being offered for less than what our wholesale cost would be to have a cameo of this shape and size set at today's cost of gold and labor.

The cameo measures 1 1/4" by 1 1/4" (not including the bale) and weighs 5.1 grams. The brooch pin closes with a safe and secure locking c-clasp and there is a fold-down, hide-away bale for use as a pendant. All is in excellent condition. The cameo is supple and line free and the setting is perfect without signs of repair or damage.
