Antique Nine Full Figure Dancing Maidens Carnelian Shell Cameo Bracelet

This early 1900's bracelet of Italian origin is very stylish and truly unique in that it features nine full figure marquise shaped dancing maidens cameos. Each maiden is slightly different. They are most likely depictions of Muses, daughters of Zeus, and the carvings are very good for their size and rare shape. These full figure depictions are also referred to as figural or full body and much more rare than the standard female profiles.

The hand made ornate settings and findings are 800 silver (stamped). The craftsmanship is excellent and the bracelet is very sturdy. Note that each of the eight panels and cameos are feature the rare hinge as opposed to double loops. This not only adds stability to the bracelet, but longevity as well. The bracelet closes with a slide-in, snap-shut closure and has a safety chain (I disconnected it for ease of pictures and reconnected it). Very easy to get on and off.

The bracelet is in excellent condition and ready to wear. It measures 7 1/4" closed and each cameo in the setting is 5/8" by 5/16". It weighs 20.9 grams.

This is a very rare heirloom item that is unique in its design, materials and construction. The full figure carvings are very rare in bracelets, and the hand made marquis shaped cameos and unusual findings are well crafted and each is unique to their cameos.
