This round 12mm Mabe Pearl is bezel set in a wide Modernist setting. There are two 3 point diamonds flush set on each side of the shank. The face measures 19x16mm, 3/4" wide by 5/8". The shank is a wide 4mm and the total weight is 8.9 grams. It is stamped 14K, and measures a U.S. size 6.

This large pearl has a lovely nacre and exhibits a clean, creamy white color with the desirable iridescent rainbow hues from blue to pink. Mabe pearls are hemispherical cultured pearls that are grown against the side of the shell of an oyster, rather than in the body. They are cultured in salt water off the coast of Japan, taking 2 to 6 years to form.

Especially unusual about this Mabe Pearl is that its bezel is open under the gallery. It is gorgeous from the underside, too. I like the modern flair of this ring and she will, too.
