HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Your Antique Coral & Cameo Connection - Free Shipping - Layaway Available
Being offered as part of a consignment lot from a prominent Dallas estate, this truly one of a kind black onyx ring may be 70 years old, but it is in perfect like new, unworn condition. Onyx is the 7th wedding anniversary stone.
The stone is much larger in size than most black onyx rings, just over 3/4" wide and 1 inch tall, with the entire ring weighing almost 8 grams.
The large beveled stone is in mirror polish condition with no wear or patina (scratching) whatsoever, indicating to me that it must have never been worn. Genuine black onyx develops its own personal patina over time even without nicks or cracks. The black stone is so perfectly gleaming that it was difficult to capture its true nature in our photos.
This ring hails from Brazil, with a perfectly cut onyx stone uniquely cut in a large rectangular shape with beveled shoulders. The 18K yellow gold setting is hand made and not cast. The shape of the band itself is a bit elongated, making it difficult to ascertain size, but it is approximately a 3.5 US. Its shape has puzzled us for some time, but we believe this band may have been reshaped and sized to become a clever scarf ring. It could easily be restored to a larger size, then wearable as a ring. Add a dazzling diamond to the center and you have quite the accessory! We offer both ring sizing and diamond placement at wholesale prices!
The entire face of this ring measures 26x20mm, or just over 1 inch tall by 3/4 inch wide. Total weight is 7.8 grams. This stone would be a perfect candidate for the new technology of laser engraving, allowing you a custom monogram, or add a diamond for added sparkle.
The unusual shank shape makes this a perfect candidate to be used for a beautiful scarf loop. Petitely sized for a pinky finger, it could easily be sized up for a larger fit, or the entire shank could be replaced for a dynamic forefinger ring.
A product of the Art Deco period that abruptly ended with the outbreak of World War II, its geometric design never really went out of style. The demise of the Art Deco period was more a reflection of the world's focus on the impending crisis, coupled with the Depression. Art Deco jewelry is quite sought after today.
It will be delivered in a lovely presentation box, ready for gift wrap and storage. It is available with the grey leather box pictured or another of your choice.
