Richly colored raised enamel paintings of flowers, leaves and buds completely cover the pale opal colored opaline glass casket set in dore' brass mounts. This piece is truly museum quality with absolutely no damage or apparent wear to the enameling. The mounts are also magnificent with the front and back legs forming a wing ending in a brass ball and the side legs repeating the pattern of side handle mounts forming loops. The front closure is a heavy S clasp, and the back hinges are covered in tiny beading. This is beautiful from every angle and I hope I captured every angle. This is an extremely large casket measuring 8 inches in width from handle to handle and 5 3/4 inches tall. There are no marks. I believe it is French, but possibly English .
