Compact /Purse on Chain With Guilloche Enamel Cartouche

This is a lovely , ornate compact in silverplate with a guilloche enamel cartouche. This is as near mint as any compact I have ever seen. It is presented in the box as found. I think that this is the original box, the compact has been stored in it for a long time. The compact is very ornate with designs forming stripes on both sides . The enamel cartouche is mounted in a frame and the enamel has feathered designs in a pale aqua with a delicate handpainted rose in the center. The clasp is tight and set into an elaborate holder . The hinge is a piano type and is also good. The edge of the compact is gadrooned in a delicate design on all sides. The chain is also elaborately done with embossed links separated by rings. Inside the compact is complete and pristine. The rouge and powder are intact with their puffs, all in excellent condition. There is a rectangular compartment that lifts up, while still attached and slides open. I have no idea what the purpose of this is. The mirror is good, just beginning to show a slight haze. There are no marks on the compact or box. It polishes beautifully, but there are no marks indicating what the material is . I date this to 1920. It is a great compact.
