Majolica Cuspidor

Majolica is great anytime, but spring seems like the best time . Majolica is so colorful and refreshing-like spring. This rare cuspidor is an excellent example of early majolica. The colors are vibrant depicting a bird in flight with a worm or small twig in her mouth on two panels and a crested bird on a branch on the other two panels. The stippled background is interrupted at the corners with aqua designed flat panels making the body eight sided. The interior is pink. The cuspidor is in great condition. There is some glaze loss on the upper edge. circa: 1850-1900, provenance: England, Height:5 1/2 inches,Width:6 1/4 inches
