Even though Armand Marseille is a very "French" sounding name the dolls are made in Germany. This beautiful doll is in wonderful condition as you can see from the photographs. She has blue open and shut eyes ( which work perfectly ), Her face and arms are bisque, her body is kid and her legs are composition. She is a jointed doll and her arms and legs bend and her arms move at the shoulders. She is a shoulder head doll with open mouth and 4 teeth. She is well marked and numbered . I notice a slight lighter spot on her left cheek, which you can see in the photograph. I see repair to the kid under her arms at the shoulder and the lower kid where it joins the bisque arms also looks replaced as do the metal joiners. Her clothes are not original but they are exquisite. They consist of undergarment in a cotton lawn with lace edging, a slip of satin with pleats and a beautiful blue velvet dress lined in satin with matching hat. She has on stockings and kid shoes. Her hair is so good , that it was probably replaced at some time. This is just they way I found her years ago and any changes to her are a guess on my part. She is 26 inches tall. The number on her 370 means that she is a shoulder plate head on a kid or cloth body. The A.M. is the maker Armand Marseille and the D.E.P. means "registered". The jointed kid bodies were made as early as 1842 and the riveted joints were patented in the 1890's. A. Marseille doll won the Grand Prize at the St. Louis Exposition in 1904. She is lovely.
