Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver and Ruby Paste Bar Brooch

A gorgeous Edwardian Sterling Silver Bar Brooch set with beautiful sparkling square cut Ruby color Paste and round faceted clear stones. Almost identical in design to a Brooch pictured on p.270 of the excellent book 'Understanding Jewellery published by The Antique Collectors Club, except that brooch was set with Diamonds and Sapphires. Dating to the early 1900's, the Brooch measures 2 1/2 inches across and 1/8 inch at it's widest point. It is marked '925' for Sterling Silver, although only the '5' remains - but it is tested and guaranteed Sterling Silver. The Brooch features an interesting 'lockable' clasp which was in use c1910. All the stones have beaded settings, which are small beads of metal formed from the surrounding metal of the brooch, so they are held securely. The pave set Ruby pastes are in open settings, while the clear paste are in closed back settings. Although my pictures do not show their true beauty, the pastes sparkle just like the real gems, and will easily pass as such!
