Oscar Morten immigrated to the United States from Sweden in 1931 opening a studio in Chicago. The studio created over three hundred dog and horse models from 1931 - 1963. The figures are composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton. Over time the figures tend to craze and flake thus making it difficult to find a figure in perfect condition. This wonderful figure of a sitting beagle measures 4 1/4" in height. Ink stamped on the base "Copyright by the Morten Studio" and with original foil label "Royal Design by Morten Studio". There are no cracks, chips, crazing or repairs; as near perfect as you will find. Great beagle figurine.
