Vintage Signed "Renoir" Copper & Enameled Hinged Cuff Bracelet

Jerry Fells founded Renoir of California, Inc. in 1946 and Matisse, Ltd., in 1952. Both companies manufactured copper jewelry in the Arts and Crafts style. The companies ceased operations in 1964. The fantastic hinged cuff bracelet, circa 1950's, is signed Renoir with the copyright symbol. The graceful copper framework is enhanced by two large sweptback copper panels enameled in blue spatter over a yellow/green enamel background. Each panel is overlaid with 3-dimensional branches of copper leaves. Most enameled items were marked Matisse, but this Renoir mark on enameled items is rare and probably indicates an early phase of enamel work. The condition of the item is excellent with only minor vintage metal wear; the enameling is like new; the spring is very tight and firm. The closed measurements from side-to-side and front-to-back is 2 inches. An exceptional Renoir bracelet.
