This original pencil drawing is of a beautiful Gibson Style woman with upswept hair. It’s signed by the artist in the lower right and the signature looks like McMeid or McNeil. It was drawn on the back of a 1 cent divided back postcard and then cut to fit the easel back brass frame. The frame is gilded brass and French style decorated with scrolls and a ribbon detail at the top. It still retains the original convex glass. The back of the frame is marked Fred K. Loeser & Co. Brooklyn N.Y. The drawing can be removed from the frame if you choose.
Dimensions: The frame is 3 ¾ inches wide x 5 ½ inches high. The drawing measures 3 inches wide x 4 inches long.
Condition:
The portrait is in good condition with a very light stain near the right dress strap. The frame has a slight bend on one side that I’ve shown in the pictures and there are chips around the rim of the glass which can’t be seen when in place. The back of the frame shows plate wear.
