A lovely 1950's porcelain cigarette box and two matching ashtrays for the lady's boudoir or dressing table with beautiful applied pink roses, mint green leaves and sponged gold accents are being offered for your consideration. The lovely set is in excellent condition and even if you do not smoke or collect tobacciana items this set would double wonderfully as a trinket box and trays. The box lid measures 4 3/4 by 3 1/2 inches and stands 2 3/4 inches high to the top of the 3 applied roses; each ashtray measures 3 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches and has it's own applied rose and mint green leaf. The bottom portion has a moss rose on both long sides and gold accenting. The box retains its original gold foil sticker which reads, Hand Painted, Pacific and Japan; each ashtray is signed, Japan in red on the bottom. On close inspection you will find firing flaws on the bottom of both ashtrays (these can be seen in the photos) neither firing flaw goes through and both are glazed over; in addition their are a few tiny flakes visible on close inspection; each done at the time of manufacture, as they are either glazed over and/or have had the gold sponging applied over them. A beautiful set for your collection or a thoughtful gift for someone special!
