A 6 1/2 inch tall face pitcher with a fancy embossed gilded spout representing a face, perhaps that of Bacchus, the god of wine, or Diablo is being offered for your consideration. The ornate gilded pink and white pottery pitcher from the turn of last century by D.F. Haynes & Sons of Baltimore, Maryland is in excellent condition and a beauty! Ornate scalloping and embossing are accented with sponged on gold, which is 80-90% intact. The base is signed Haynes in a banner and Balt beneath the banner with 2 other words (seen in the photos) that are only partially decipherable. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines visible on our close inspection. The era typical production anomalies of glaze pits, iron specks, glaze 'bumps' and glaze skips are present, as well as, some age related crazing and on the inside bottom of the pitcher a few small areas of light staining exist. The pitcher stands 6 1/2 inches high, is 6 1/2 inches lip to back of the handle, 5 1/2 inches across it's middle, it has a 2 7/8 inch diameter opening and sits on a 3 1/2 inch diameter base. A wonderful and beautiful addition to any collection for display or use at your next gourmet function (can you just imagine the conversations it will start)!

Please examine the pitcher in detail by clicking on the thumbnails or 'Larger Views'.
