These stunning pieces of chintz earthenware were produced by A G Richardson & Co. Ltd one of the Staffordshire Potteries in England, under the trade name of Crown Ducal. The Peony chintz pattern was introduced in the very early 1900s and is a highly detailed and vibrant all over floral design printed mainly in varying shades of pink, white and yellow peony roses. Gold/orange finishing touches around the edges complete this lovely highly sought after pattern. In all there are:

x 4 cups - 2 are in good condition - 1 has two minute nibbles on the rim - 1 has one minute nibble on the rim (hardly seen at all)

x 2 saucers - 1 is in good condition (light wear on the ridge where the cup sits) - 1 has a small chip to the rim

x 4 side plates - 3 are in good condition - 1 has a flake chip under the rim (not seen unless turned over) - 1 has a flake chip on the rim and can be seen

These pieces are a mix of two different Crown Ducal marks. One with the shield was introduced in 1916 and the other from 1925 onwards, so these are all very early pieces. The side plates measure 14.5cm (5¾ inches) across, the cups are 7cm (2¾ inches) in height and the saucers are 14.5cm (5¾ inches) in diameter.

These are such stunning pieces and look superb on display.
