This stunning pink luster sundae / grapefruit dish was produced by C T Maling & Sons Ltd., of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, in business from 1890 to 1963. This design was introduced in 1937. Dishes came in 10 different luster colours, which took four firings to produce - this made them expensive to manufacture. Moulded leaves surround the bowl which sits on a stem and spreads out to a circular base. The pink lustre has gold edging around the bowl and base, with minimal rubbing. The underside bears the Maling mark used in the 1930s. Height is 3½ inches (9cm) and diameter; 4¼ inches (11cm). It is in very good condition – no chips, cracks, or repairs, just some minimal age crazing.
A lovely piece of Art Deco lustre ware!
