Satsuma Ware Open Salt Dips

These four little Japanese Satsuma Ware Salts or dishes were produced c1960s. Satsuma Ware Pottery dates back to the early part of the 17th Century.

Each round and slightly scalloped dish has the typical Satsuma cream ground with its tiny crazed glaze finish. The rims and hand-painted floral designs of irises, etc, are outlined in gold.

The words "Satsuma Ware" are printed in gold on the base of each salt. Measurements for the two larger ones are 9.25cm (3½ inches) in diameter and 1.75cm (¾ inch) in height. The two smaller ones measure 6cm (2 3/8 inches) in diameter and 2.5cm (1 inch) in height.

The overall condition of all four pieces is very good, with just some light spots of staining on the larger pieces. There are no chips, cracks or repairs.
