W T Copeland Spode Works of Stoke, in Staffordshire, England, produced this large cup, saucer and plate around the turn of the 19th century.

The fluted and scalloped shaped cup has been beautifully offset with an elegant twisted feather moulded handle and hand-painted mauve and pink flowers amid green and red foliage. This cup is large and holds 14oz (400ml). The fluted and scalloped shape has been repeated on the saucer and plate.

All three pieces bear a green printed backstamp on the base which reads: "Spode Copelands China, England". They also have the hand-painted pattern no. "R6032". The saucer and plate have a hand-painted "B" and the cup a "4". This backstamp was introduced c1891.

The cup measures 7.4cm (2 7/8 inches) in height and 11.5cm (4½ inches) in diameter; the saucer measures 17.5cm (6 7/8 inches) in diameter and the plate measures 19.5cm (7 5/8 inches) in diameter

All three pieces are in good condition for their age with no chips, crazing or repairs, however the cup does have a fine hairline crack on the lower part of the handle - this is not easily seen and does not detract from this superb piece.

This trio would make a great addition to any collection as large ones such as this do not come up very often!
