SALE Striking Large Japanese Square Shoulder Ovoid Moriage Export Vase

This is a large and striking vintage Japanese, square shoulder ovoid vase. It is in a deep cobalt with lovely gilding, and hand painted Moriage type accents in vivid colors. The shoulder carries the cross circle, which is the mark of the Prince of Satsuma, but the base mark is different. The mountain is Mt. Fuji, and the characters read Nippon, looking like a copy of Fukagawa. The fan is interesting, as it shows the same 11 rib square design as those found representing Nippon Tokusei. While I cannot guarentee her exact age, I estimate her to be from the late Taisho thru Early Showa periods. Overall crazing and discoloration, normal wear, the bottom is a bit unlevel.
